SWALLOW by Vincent Priesley

Not unlike the recalling of a dream, Priesley’s realization of “Swallow” offers an exaggerated and immersive experience of being truly devoured. A monster realized offline was meshed, textured, and assembled to the artist’s recollection, it’s materiality presenting a look into Priesley’s psyche and heart. Featured in the jaws and guts are framed reliefs and cutout figures of loved ones. Poetic words and onomatopoeia line the anatomy, inviting viewers to explore the inviting depths that beckon.

The Glinka Gallery

The Glinka Gallery

The Glinka Gallery is a group of four galleries dedicated to fine art, photography, poetry, music, and dance by SL artists. Glinka Gallery One focuses on new art exhibitions. Glinka Gallery Two is home to the permanent collection of art and photography from previous shows. The Fibonacci Gallery is dedicated to the short-form poetry that adheres to the Fibonacci number sequence. The Frank O'Hara Building is a poetry gallery for Second Life poets. There is also the Frank O'Hara room for special events and readings. The piazza is home to Glinka gallery's resident dance group The Sway & Dance Troupe who mix choreography, music, and poetry in their very visual dance spectaculars. The gallery director is real-world novelist and poet, Wolfgang Glinka.

At the Art Atelier Gallery you will find Contemporary Art Exhibitions by real-world artists. From August 15th to September 15th there will be an exhibition called Conversatorios (Conversations) that will be held in collaboration with the Museo Omar Reina de San Rafael (Argentina). Eight artists will be participating: Ledo Lisbeth, Carlos Ocaña, María Cantera, Antonio Camba, Irene Mancino, Leticia Rossi, Montse Bassols, and Marcela Brizuela.

Sinful Retreat is a land where worlds and times collide. A virtual playground where artists are welcomed with open arms to show their works, they strive to make a cohesive environment out of the many styles and personalities of the artists who display their work there. Second Life needs a little more life, a little more art, and they hope they can bring that to the Residents of SL. All Residents are invited to visit. Global Warming Winter by Rachel Breaker

Global Warming Winter acknowledges the obvious catastrophic global changes that are ongoing. Rachel expresses a realization of how absurd our dystopic future(s) really could be. Her built environment is a nod to simulated climates of outdoor waterparks. Not unlike the whimsically painted concrete and themed backdrops alluding to paradise within completely manmade terrain. In this installation, she critiques the materiality of simulated natural environments, a motif we may end up seeing more of as our myriad of climates progressively alter.
