So Many Ways to Chat
Second Life takes communication to a whole new level. Use 3D Voice Chat to talk it up with friends, type messages in Local Chat, or Instant Message anyone in Second Life. Unlike a phone call, email or IM, you can also use body language to express yourself. Gestures let you laugh, sigh, dance or shake a fist to add some personality to what you're saying. Also, why talk about hanging out, clubbing or camping, when you can do it virtually with your friends right now? Second Life lets you share experiences with your friends and family- not just talk to them.
Join or Create Groups
Develop your own Online community by using Second Life Groups. Create a group in minutes, then invite friends and Second Life Residents everywhere to join up. Use groups to hook up with people who share your interests, or use them to build a web presence for your new Second Life business. Group members can easily keep in touch with each other, develop their virtual land together, and set dates to meet up. Other Residents can see what groups you're in by checking out your profile.
Attend or Organize Events
Whether you want to throw a party, hold a workshop or run a contest, Second Life lets any user create and run events for free. Prepare an event, then announce it by posting it in the Second Life Event Calendar. Your event might be social, educational, competitive or just plain weird- have fun and meet new faces! Looking for a good time? Check out the Event Calendar, find an event that tickles your fancy, and dive in!
Talk It Up on the Forums
Second Life has a huge, active forums community. From announcements to conversations, from real world meetups to tips and classifieds, the Second Life forums are always abuzz. Rant about an event or rave about your favorite virtual fashion designer. Provide feedback or post about your new virtual store. Trade building tips or show off your favorite screenshots. Get a sense of what residents are chatting about without jumping into Second Life.
