Twenty four hours a day, there are events running in Second Life, held by residents. They are an excellent way to meet new people, share something with like minded individuals and the competitive events can be a good way to make some money.

You can see a complete listing of Events in the Search Window. You can search for things that interest you, note the time and attend if convenient.

You will also find a good number of educational events. Often run by Resident volunteers, these events can teach you a wide variety of Second Life skills such as building, scripting and how to customise your avatar. These too are a great way to meet people. If you find folk that you get on well with, don't be shy - ask if they would mind befriending you. You can do this by right-clicking their avatar and choosing Add Friend.
