The two most significant documents are the Terms of Service and the Community Standards. By signing up to be a Second Life resident, you have agreed to abide by these two documents. You should read both of them carefully. Behavior that adversely affects either another Residents enjoyment of Second Life, or the service itself will not be permitted.
ACCOUNTS
- Your first Basic account is free. Any additional Basic accounts are available for a one-time set-up fee of US$9.95. You may have as many accounts as you are willing to pay for.

PASSWORDS
Account passwords should be no longer than 16 characters long.
MAIN GRID
You must be 18 years of age or over to have a main grid account.
TEEN GRID
You must be at least 13 years of age, and no older than 17 years of age to have a teen grid account.
BUILDING / OBJECT RESTRICTIONS

| Link Distance | Approximately 30-35m center to center, for larger prims |
| Maximum number of prims linked together | 255 |
| Maximum number of objects that can be passed to someone in a folder | 42 (folders count as items too) |
| Number of prims attached to an attachment point | 255 |
| Maximum distance you can Sit on an object from | 300m |
| Maximum time a Temp On Rez object can exist | Around 120 seconds |
CHAT
| Range that chat text can be heard | 20m |
| Range that shouting can be heard | 100m |
FLIGHT
| Height at which you can hover unaided | Approximately 50m above the terrain height |
GROUPS
| Maximum number of groups you can be a member of | 15 |
