THE WORLD MENU
COMMAND |
DESCRIPTION |
| Chat | If it isn't already open, this pops up the chat bar so that you can chat to other residents that are close by. |
| Start Gesture | Simply starts a gesture command in the chat bar. |
| Always Run | Toggles run mode on and off, so that you can choose whether to walk or to run (ctrl-r). |
| Fly | If you're not already flying, this will put you into the air. if you are already flying, unchecking this will bring you down to earth. You can also press the F key when not chatting to get airborne. In addition you can hold the jump key down to jump-and-fly if Auto Fly options are checked on the Input tab of your Preferences. |
| Create Landmark Here | If the land settings allow it, this will create a new landmark to your current location, in your inventory/landmarks folder. Useful if you want to be able to find a place again later. |
| Set Home to Here | If the land settings permit it, you can set your Home location to your current position inworld. |
| Teleport Home | Teleports you immediately back to your Home location. |
| Set Away | When selected your avatar will stoop forward in an 'away from keyboard' stance making it clear to those around you that you are not there and will not be responsive. Any subsequent mouse activity will bring you out of Away mode. Away mode will kick in automatically if your avatar is inactive for a while. If that inactivity extends for as long as 30 minutes, you will be automatically logged out of Second Life. |
| Set Busy | Setting Busy Mode tells others that you are not to be interrupted and shields you from all Chat text and Instant messages. Anyone trying to contact you via IM will receive your Busy Message text as defined in the IM tab on your Preferences window. You will not lose any chat or IMs; once you are no longer Busy, you can review any IMs that arrived in your IM window (ctrl-T), and any chat in your Chat History window (ctrl-h). |
| Account History... | Displays your Account History window which details all of your inworld Linden Dollar transactions, for items you have bought to sales revenue paid to you. You can step back over a number of days to see what has been coming and going financially. |
| My Land... | Opens the My Land window which provides a summary of all the land you own, how much land allowance you have given to Groups, and how much land allowance you have spare on your current tier level. Also allows you to quickly teleport to any of the parcels of land you own. |
| About Land... | Opens the About Land dialog for the land you are currently over. This window allows for land settings to be changed, access controlled and audio/video streams to be set if you have the right permissions to do so. It also provides a way to buy land that is For Sale, or to sell land you no longer want. |
| Buy Land... | If the land you are currently on is For Sale, this shortcut allows you to quickly bring up the Buy land window and purchase it. |
| Region/Estate... | If you own your own region/estate or are a Land Manager for someone elses, this command opens up the configuration window from where you can set ground textures, control who can access or see your region, and the point in the day/night cycle. | Force Sun | Provides a quick way to change the time of day, and therefore the lighting for your current session of Second Life. This only affects your own view of the world, and will reset back to being the world/region default if you relog. Options are: Sunrise (morning), Noon (midday), Sunset (evening) and midnight. If you have moved from default, then a fifth option 'Revert to Region Default' will be available, to get you back to the default without the need to relog. |
