THE EDIT MENU

COMMAND

DESCRIPTION

Undo This will undo the last build action you did. It only works if you do not have the chat field visible or if the object being manipulated has focus, so if you make an edit to sizes in the Edit pane, you may need to left click once again on the object before choosing Undo.
Redo Redo the previously Undone build action.

Cut Cuts text, for pasting elsewhere in a notecard.
Copy Use to copy text in notecards or objects in your inventory for pasting elsewhere. You must have Copy permissions on inventory objects for this to work.
Paste Paste copied or cut items.
Delete This deletes the selected text or inventory object.

Search... Opens the Search window from which you can search for people, groups, land that is for sale, events, classifieds and places.

Select All Select All selects all the text in whichever text area you are using, notecards for example. It also works in chat history window (ctrl-h).
Deselect This deselects previously selected text.

Duplicate Duplicate creates a copy of whichever object you have selected (cube on the ground, notecard in your inventory, script inside an object). The new copy will be given a default name.

Attach Object Avatars can have objects (prims) attached to them. This is useful for such things as boots, hair, and weapons as an example. This command has a submenu allowing the selected object to be attached to one of many attach points around your avatars body.

To work, the selected item must be something that can be attached.
Detach Object This provides a way to remove attachments. Points that currently have something attached are shown in white, making it easy to detach whatever items are there.
Take Off Clothing This is an easy way to remove one article of clothing, or all clothes. If you are not wearing something (eg. gloves or a jacket) it will be greyed out.

Gestures This opens the Gestures window. A Gesture is a combination of animations/poses, sounds, and text that can be put together and triggered with a text command or hotkey. Gestures can be looped or set to play only once.

For example, you could create a Gesture to wave and say goodbye when a function key is pressed.
Profile This opens your Profile window. Your Profile is visible to other residents and is a way for you to let people know a little more about you if you wish.

Both first and second life images of yourself can be added, by dragging the images from your inventory onto the areas provided.

You can also create your own classified adverts through the Profile screen.
Appearance This puts you into Appearance Mode, where you can customize your avatar, change coloring, add tattoos and change gender.

Friends This displays your Friends List.
Groups This opens your Group window, listing all the groups of which you are a member. From here you can create new groups, leave existing groups and access the group controls.

Preferences This opens the Preferences window. Many areas of your Second Life experience can be adjusted in your preferences, from graphics settings, to the way chat text works and much more.
