HOME / LAND / MANAGING LAND
Most of the options for your land are accessed from the same window, the About Land dialog. When stood on your land you can access About Land by right-clicking the ground and choosing it from the pie menu, or by clicking the parcel title at the top of the screen. In addition you can select it from the World Menu.
THE GENERAL TAB
Name - Where you can set a name for your parcel. This is what others will see at the top of their screen when they enter your parcel, and what is listed in Search window if, for example, you sell the land.
Description - More detailed text that will also appear in places such as the Search window -> Places tab.
Owner - This will be your name, or <Group Owned> if it is group land.
Group Controls
Before land can be deeded to a group, you have to Set it to that group first. It is still owned by you at this point. Once land is set to a group - the Allow Deed and Owner Makes Contribution options become available. Because the group needs land allowance donated by members for it to hold land, group officers can use the Owner makes Contribution with Deed option before deeding. This automatically moves the necessary amount of allowance from your personal allowance, into the group along with the land, ensuring that the group has enough.
Note: When you deed land to a group, you cease to own the land yourself, the group owns it. In addition you will receive no money from deeding it. This means the officers of the group can sell, divide, abandon or otherwise change the land and control it. So be sure before you Deed it.
For Sale - for details on selling land, click here.
Buy For Group - Rather than own land yourself before deeding it ti a group, Officers of the group can Buy For Group - immediately placing land under group control on purchase. The group needs to have sufficient land allowance to hold this land - or risk losing it.
Buy Pass - Some parcels can be set to be accessible only on payment of a fee - the purchasing of a Pass. This button allows you to buy such a Pass.
THE OBJECTS TAB
This tab gives you a way to review what is on your land, and remove content that shouldn't be there.
At the top it gives you an idea of how prims you have already used, and how many available. These prims are then broken down into those that belong to you, to the same group as the land is set to (or owned by) and owned by anyone else (others). Any one of these three sets can be Returned en mass if you wish using the buttons alongside.
At the bottom is a pane that when refreshed will list all the owners, of any prims on your land. Any one of these can be individually selected and returned using the Return Objects button. Do read the confirm dialog carefully, to ensure you are returning the correct objects.
Autoreturn
This feature gives you as landowner or officer a way to have content that shouldn't be on your land, removed automatically. It should be used with caution however, as there is no Undo and no warning.
If Autoreturn is set to 0 then it is OFF. Any other number and you have set the number of minutes a rogue object can exist on the land before being returned to its owners inventory. For an object to be allowed to stay, it must be owned by the landowner or set to the same group as the land is set to or set to the same group that owns the land for group held parcels.
THE OPTIONS TAB
Create/Edit Objects - If checked, then people can create objects on your land. If unchecked, no-one - not even you can create objects on the land.
Safe (no damage) - usually checked, this allows you to decide if you want your land to allow damage. Combat is not allowed on Safe Land, and you cannot die there. If you uncheck this option, then you and others can take damage on the land and potentially be killed - which will return you to your home location. Combat is allowed when both parties are on damage enabled (unsafe) land.
Landmark - Choose if you allow others to set Landmarks to your land.
Edit Land - Choose whether your land can be edited / terraformed by others. You are always able to do this. Warning: Leaving this checked could allow someone to dramatically alter your land.
Fly - Decide if you wish to allow flight on your land. If someone is already flying when they reach your land this will not force them to land. But once grounded, they will be unable to fly.
Outside Scripts - Choose whether outside scripted objects should be allowed to work on your land.
