Ready to start your region build over but want everything perfectly flat to start off with? We've had quite a few people asking how to do this, so here goes.. the easy way to flatten an entire island. This assumes you have one large parcel covering your whole island but it also works as a way to flatten any parcel, especially strangely shaped ones that would be impossible to select normally..
Stand in the middle of the parcel..
- Right-click the ground and choose About Land.
- Leave the About Land dialog box open, while you right-click the ground again and choose Edit Land.
- In the edit tools, select the Flatten Land option. Having that About Land window open causes the entire region/parcel to become selected, so be sure you want the whole thing flat!
- Click Apply to Selection several times depending on how much elevation you have until the whole thing is flat. Because your draw distance is likely to be less than the whole region it may look like the edges didn't flatten but don' t worry, they did. In this way you can easily achieve a totally flat island.
The same trick works for smoothing, raise and lower etc.
If you want your island at a specific height, use the Lower Land option to take the region as far down as it will go. Water height is usually 20m so that is a good guide point. Raise the land back up until the water disappears which should be 20 clicks (each click is 1m). Another couple of clicks and your land is 2 meters above the water.
